Yes, there are some higher end specs especially as the N97 'only' has a 5MP camera...but don't forget, it's not just the pixels that are important, it's the lens, and even more important the backend image processing that makes all the difference with photos. Admittedly, you might not be able to blow the pictures up so large, but most of the time it won't matter.

In terms of other hardware - I think the N97 is right at the top...what are your thoughts?

Hi Tara - as far as I know (at the time of writing) Vodafone is the one company offering the N97 on a contract. The thing I like about Vodafone's offering, is that they allow incoming & outgoing tweets at no extra cost..if you're a twitterholic like me, then that's a deal-maker (or is it a deal breaker??!!!).

See my Twitter page here: http://twitter.com/n97boy

Agree, the processor is not that important. I like that it'll consume less power so I won't have to recharge it as often. Still, I hope the suggested prices will go down since a few phones with higher end hardware are cheaper than this one.

Olu - brilliantly put & I agree completely when you say that the N97 is in a super heavy weight class of its own. I don't think I've seen another phone out there at the moment which works so completely hand-in-glove with the mobile entrepreneur as the Nokia N97. I'm just saving up the pennies to get one as soon as it's released :)

I really want this phone, I was going to get the HTC Touch HD on Orange contract this week, but then saw the trailer for this one, so... I dont mind if it comes out in June, because my dad said he will get it for me after my exams, but I think I want to get it on Orange contract, because the phone seems pretty expensive to buy sim - free, and then you can put it on a contract or PAYG, which means even more, at least on contract you pay a fixed rate and get the phone free.... I hope they put the phone on Orange or O2, because if its on T-Mobile I dont think I'll get it, becuse of the fact that T-Mobile have really bad signal where I live, whereas I'm on orange now, and know I can get signal here. O2 and Orange are the biggest networks in the UK, what with BT owning O2, I'll be surprised if they do not accept it, as they have the greatest following of customers in the UK....

Hi Olu - yes, I agree wholeheartedly with what you say. If the Mobile operators aren't careful, they'll find themselves in the same anachronistic position as the record industry's reaction to file sharing of mp3's...the best way forward is to embrace the change and find new ways of generating revenue. Surely the likes of Orange & O2 should be able to do this..or, perhaps they are like a herd of elephants that can't easily change direction, as they are stuck with inhibiting telecoms infrastructures. Yet I don't think that's a good enough excuse - after all, why is it that T-Mobile seems willing to allow Skype on the N97? The answer, I believe, is that they are willing to embrace change, and move with it. That's what Nokia seems to be doing, and when they "sneeze", the rest of the telecoms world better get their handkerchiefs out!!
